daytime® LED light/power calculator
Here you can easily determine the amount of “daytime® power” in watts that optimally illuminates your aquarium.
Step 1:
Determine your “lumen per liter” value
Sea water
Low Light Reef
10 – 20 lumens per liter fish marine aquariums (FOWL)
Natural Light Reef
20 – 40 lumens per liter Large polyp stony corals (LPS), crustose anemones, soft corals, leather corals
Ultra Light Reef
40 – 60 lumens per liter Small polyp stony corals (SPS)
Fresh water
Low light requirement
10 – 20 lumens per liter For low-maintenance aquatic plants such as Anubias, some Crypocorynes, some Amazonas, Java fern, Vallisneria, biotope aquariums (e.g. shrimp, discus or African aquariums)
Normal light requirement
20 – 30 lumens per liter For somewhat more demanding aquatic plants such as some mosses, some Hygrophila, Pogostemon helferi, some Amazonas. CO2 fertilization, soil and liquid fertilizer required.
High light requirement
30 and more lumens per liter For particularly demanding aquatic plants such as Cuban pearlwort (Hcc), Glossostigma, Rotala. CO2 fertilization, soil and liquid fertilizers and special fertilizers are absolutely essential.
